It’s the Ultimate in Dumaguete once again

Approximately 200 Ultimate Frisbee players will battle it out in the upcoming Ultimate Shindig ’08: The 2^nd Dumaguete Ultimate Frisbee Tournament.

To be held this August 23-24, 2008 at the Perdices Coliseum in Dumaguete, the tournament will bring together the country’s fastest and most spirited Frisbee players divided into 10 teams.

Five teams will represent Dumaguete, while leading teams Boracay and Manila, as well as Iligan, Cebu, Kidapawan and will send one team each.

The Boracay Dragons is the number one team in Asia and 1^st runner-up in the 2007 World Beach Ultimate Competition in Brazil. The Manila Roaches, on the other hand, were the champions in last year’s Dumaguete Ultimate Frisbee Tournament.

Organizers Mark Genove and JJ Orden said that this year’s tournament has more teams participating, up by four from six teams last year. It is also co-presented by the Provincial Government for the first time, through the Sports and Cultural Facilities Management Board.

Other sponsors include Globe, Payag sa Likod, Stufu, Sun Signs and Graphics.

“We hope with continued support and enthusiasm for Ultimate Frisbee, we can turn the Dumaguete Ultimate Tournament into an annual event,” added Orden.
