sandbar

One of the best things about living in Negros is the proliferation of beautiful beaches. Wala nyan samin. So as a sort of last "up yours" to school, the brilliant bums headed to Bais City, to the famed dolphin-watching Tanon Strait and Sandbar for some fun in the sun last November 10.

The day didn't start out so well, since it rained early in the morning. The rest of the group who were coming with us were already waiting at Steds since 6:30 (we were late and had to wait for the rice to cook). We missed the good bus. We almost got lost on the way to the wharf. And come lunchtime, we got stranded in the middle of the deepest blue sea I ever saw because one of the M/V Dolly's (yes, the boat's name was dolly. So gay, quite appropriate with gayla queens Mara, Angel and Aiken on board) wires snapped.

So there we were, one hour waiting for two more boats (one to tow and one to take us to Sandbar). We decided to just eat sans plates, forks, spoons and glasses the sinugbang pork and fish JJ and Junex cooked at the back of the boat. We were still eating when the two boats came in, and we had to ask for extra time to finish the whole feast off.

Off we went to the dolphin area, where around twenty of them were just swimming, divided into groups, in all directions. So much so that the new boat (something named Alpher) kept going around in circles so we could get closer and closer to the bee-yoo-tiful swimming animals. With the noontime sun on top of us, they just glistened...calmly... paying no attention to our squeals.

Next up was Sandbar, a stretch of sand in the middle of the deep sea. If any of you still haven't visited, this is the second thing I recommend after Apo Island. We got there around 1pm, and we swam and sunbathed (I am now bronze, optimistically speaking) our hearts out.

Here are the pics of that day.
